I miss fast Internet. We are switching providers and it's going to take about a week to get the new DSL installed. Sigh. I didn't realize how much I would miss it. We are using dialing up, but it's so slow. I guess we are spoiled in a way. I actually miss reading the news online and I now feel so uninformed. I only listen to NPR for about 20 minutes on the way to work and 40 minutes on the way home, but that's all. I guess we will make do with what we have for now.
My Valentine's day was cute and fun, but nothing really special, except for the fact that Josh paid for dinner and we were kinda dressed up. We ended up going to Kabuki at the Howard Hughes Center and dinner was fabulous. I realized that Josh and I never actually had sushi together, like on a date before, so it worked out nicely, given the occasion. But the night overall was quite lovely and I am glad that I was able to spend it with Josh. We have become very indifferent to Valentine's day in general. It's our sixth one together, so I guess it's getting old or we're getting old or something. I just don't like "holidays" in general though.
Work has been getting me irritated a bit, but I am hoping that it won't get to me for the rest of the week. It's been super busy and stressful, so I am hoping that it's just a phase and that it will slow down soon. But overall, it's not that bad.
I was able to have lunch with Angela, Eva, and Lisa today. It was a spontaneous gathering, but I am glad that it worked out. We went to Damon and Pythias...such a great restaurant; one of my favorites in Westwood. It was nice to see Eva especially since it's been a while since we hung out. I just gotta say that today was a day for random conversation topics. It was an enjoyable lunch and I learned a lot about each person. It's amazing how much talking you can cram into one hour.
I had dinner with M tonight (yes, it's Tuesday) and we went to the Olive Garden. It was a good time because she was telling me about her crazy and tumultuous weekend. I can see the waiter eavesdropping unintentionally on our conversation, but it was fine, he laughed with us. I am glad that she is overall doing better and that she received a very important phone call during dinner that made her feel better for the rest of the night and hopefully will allow her to sleep better tonight. Again, the topics of conversation were a bit risque, but it was great that she and I can talk about things so openly and honestly.
After dinner, I went to see my mom for a while because she wasn't feeling too well. By the time I got there, she was feeling a lot better and I just hung out there for a while and helped her out. It was nice to see her again. I figured that while I was out in that neighborhood, I might as well visit Tripp in the hospital. (It wasn't like that at all; I had planned to visit him after seeing my mom!)
He looked so much better and they took his tube out so he can actually speak coherently. It was so great to see him doing so well. They are going to start giving him real liquids tomorrow and work him up to solid food by dinnertime. I am very impressed that he is recovering so swiftly. He had his camera on for his thesis project and recorded our whole conversation. It was a good hour and a half at least. I am curious to see myself and how stupid I sound on it. We did talk about the most random things though, so I may have forgotten a lot of the things that I've said. It will definitely be interesting to watch. And it's not fair because he can always say that he was drugged up if anyone questions what he says...but as for me, I was totally sober! I know that I will be seeing it shortly.
SATC quote of the day:
Miranda: They don't cook the food here?
Samantha: That's why they call it Raw. The raw food movement! People love it: Sting, Demi, Soon-Yi... soon me! (Season 6 - Great Sexpectations)
**Oh, I forgot to mention that M and I saw Tobey Maguire last night in front of Jerry's Deli. M is in love with him, though she was turned off by the fact that he was so short.**
